Explosion risk assessment
According to Polish law, preparing an explosion risk assessment is an obligation whenever materials creating explosive atmospheres are involved in process or are stored. Zones and rooms of explosion hazard and ignition sources should be comprised.
Explosion risk assessment creates a basis to perform an analysis and the assessment of explosion hazard, which obligation to perform is included in regulation of the Polish Minister of Economy, from 8 July 2010 (on the minimum requirements, concerning occupational safety and health, related to the potential workplace explosive atmosphere (Dz.U. 2010 nr 138 poz. 931)). It is significant document, required when applying for building permits.

CORONA offers performing explosion risk assessment according to Ministry of the Interior and Administration’s regulation on fire protection of buildings and other objects and areas.
Following steps are taken:
- Determine the hazards properties – identification of explosive materials,
- Classification of endangered zone – defining an adequate safety zones in rooms and outer areas,
- Classification of endangered rooms,
- Identification of factor which may initiate ignition of flammable mixtures
- Selection of electric and mechanical appliances for endangered zones
- Developing of recommendations (determination of requirements), resulting from applicable legal regulations,
- Providing of documentation, graphic situational plans which contain the type, the range of zones and its identification and determination of ignition sources, included,
- Detailed consultations with the local services.
Legal Obligation
According to ATEX directive and regulation of the Polish Minister of Economy, from 8 July 2010 (on the minimum requirements, concerning occupational safety and health, related to the potential workplace explosive atmosphere (Dz.U. 2010 nr 138 poz. 931)) the employer, designer or investor is obliged to provide the explosion and risk assessment.
