Open path Spectrex IR SafeEye Quasar 900 gas detector


The newest open path IR SafeEye Quasar 900 transmitter is responsible for detecting wide range of hydrocarbons vapours (from alkanes such as methane to hexane and ethylene).  

Detection distance reaches 200 m. The most significant features as reliability and efficiency are SIL2 and SIL3 approved, while FM performance/function tests were conducted. 

Why Spectrex IR SafeEye Quasar 900 type open path transmitter?

Spectrex designed xenon flash lamp, which revolutionized world’s open path detection systems market. It avoids a previous failure, such as  lack of immunity to false alarms. Nowadays, open path detectors supplement spot detectors. 

They also take an executive action and offer many other advantages, like:

Immunity to false alarms 

Quasar 900 is fully immune to solar radiation and other sources of radiation, such as lightning, torches, welding. 

Efficiency in any weather

Quasar 900 with xenon lamps adjusts to changing weather conditions, like: rain, fog, vapour, snow and is resistant to solar radiation or machines vibration in working environment.

 

Quasar 900 windows are heated, what prevents from snow or wet condensation on window’s surface, even in tough weather conditions. Quasar was tested in wide range of working temperatures (from -55ºC to + 65ºC).

Reliability

Quasar 900 detector is SIL 2 (IEC 61508) approved, equipped with heated window. Also the maintenance do not involve downtime. 

Built-in memory of events

Internal data logger carries out detailed records – records up to 100 events.

Built-in memory of gaseous agents

Tuning the detector has never been so simple. No manual control or standard test gas are involved, due to preloaded calibration of Quasar 900.

The minimum detection level

IDue to natural stability and sensibility, the minimum detection level for Quasar 900 is of 0,15 LEL.m

 

Installation options

Quasar

offers installation options:

• analog output 0-20 mA with HART capability
• RS485 Modbus, where it can be linked to 256 detectors.

Approving certificates:

  • Hazardous area (Zone 1)

  • FM/FMC, ATEX, IECEx, GOST R, Inmetro

EFFICIENCY

  • FM 6325 approved by FM

  • EN60079-29-4 tested by FM

RELIABILITY

  • SIL2 (TUV)

HART

HART module can be used with Quasar 900 what enables digital communication between endangered and safe zones. No additional wiring is needed and access to many information, such as the state of the every single detector, its configuration and historical information is provided.

A significant feature is reduction of wiring, as digital HART signals are transmitted via the same routes as power is supplied (0-20 mA).
